For an absolutely hilarious and unforgettable experience, you must visit the Munich Hall. In this huge hall, you can experience the German Oktoberfest beer festival, in March. I’ve seen lots of happy businessmen there. Some of them get so happy that they stand on their chairs and dance! It is worth visiting and seeing for yourself.
Very Big Beers & Superb Service
Waitresses will carry over 8 beer mugs on each tray. When I first saw that, I was wondering how they could do it, and a little scared that their arms would “fail” and drop all the beer on someone. That never happened. They’re total professionals, and could get around the hall without any problems.
During the whole evening, there is a live German traditional folk band playing. The lead singer show people how to drink a full mug with one go. You must see that!
The menu is full of tasty Bavarian style things like sausages, ham, soft cheese…. Click here to check out the dishes and prices on the menu. There is a vegetarian dish as well.
How to Get There
You really don’t need to do much to get there. It’s located right behind hall 3 on the fairgrounds. You will see bunches of people heading towards it, after 6, to see the “After Work Party”. Most of them, aren’t from Germany, and want to experience the beer festival celebrations. If you’re coming from outside the fairgrounds, use the East 2 entrance. To leave you can use the same exit, or the North 1 & 2 exits to get the free public transportation, included with your CeBIT ticket. Train lines 8 and 18 will take you to the main train station in 18 minutes.
If you are with a group of friends, it is better to reserve a table. If not, you might be put separately, or on a big table where many different people can sit. Click here to go to their page (opens in a new window). You will be charged 25 euros per person deposit, when you book online.
The Munich Hall is open from 11 in the morning until 11 in the night, during the CeBIT show (16-19 of March 2015). The last day (March 20th) it’s open from 11:00 to 17:00.
